Nelson Regatta 2025
June, 2025
A regatta is like launching a spinnaker...
Many members worked so well together to organize the regatta this year it was like a perfect launch, set and douse of a spinnaker — it really was fun. There were a couple of hiccups but the result left no blood sweat or tears and an excellent weekend of sailing, camaraderie and new friends.
Winds were from 16 to 0 kts, 10 boats registered, we had our first ODR fleet race, our first all female crew, and a perfect “Drama Queen” award winning story by skipper of Emma Jean. A bit of whining was heard from Orbit as they drifted backwards from the Burns Point mark in 0 wind and 1 kt of current while the competition caught up but we laughed about it later (we really didn’t but we might someday….)
Thank you to all the crews for supporting their skippers, the skippers who brought their boats and crew and everyone who contributed their time and efforts to putting this together.
Hope to see you all at Gray Creek Regatta August 30 and 31 and the events between now and then.
Thank You
